Interpretation
And the dark earth shook and bellowed beneath her as the Titan's root was cut, and the son of Iapetus himself groaned, his heart wild with pain.
When she cut the root, the earth bellowed, and far away on the Caucasus Prometheus, son of Iapetus, groaned. The plant is still part of his body. The drug that will make Jason proof against fire comes from the Titan who brought fire to men, and Medea gathers it at the cost of his pain.
