The setting

Here, for the first time, the book names its subject: οἱ ἐγρήγοροι, the Watchers — the angels who will fall. At the theophany all are afraid, and the Watchers themselves tremble; the ends of the earth are shaken, and a great fear grips the world to its farthest bounds.
