Fui eu mesmo que o levei um dia de manhã, uma segunda-feira. Era no antigo Largo da Lapa, perto da nossa casa. Levei-o a pé, pela mão, como levara o ataúde do outro.
I myself took him one morning, a Monday. It was in the old Largo da Lapa, near our house. I took him on foot, by the hand, as I had taken the coffin of the other.
The narrator describes taking the coffin to the cemetery.
The narrator recalls taking the deceased to the cemetery on a Monday morning, walking by hand as he had done with another coffin.
