The rest made me stay a while longer in the hallway, thinking. I saw Doctor João da Costa enter, and soon the usual game of voltarete was prepared. My mother came out of the room, and seeing me, asked if I had accompanied Capitu. — No, ma'am, she went alone. And almost charging at her: — Mom, I wanted to tell you something. — What is it?
