That I marry? she said, so moved. Soon after she made her lips droop and shook her head. No, Bentinho, she said, it would be to wait too long; you are not going to be a priest already tomorrow, it takes many years... Look, I promise another thing; I promise that you will baptize my first son.
The narrator proposes marriage, but she responds with hesitation.
