«To get on» es otro verbo con partícula: «arreglárselas, apañarse, ir tirando». «Get» es el verbo más camaleónico del inglés, y la partícula («on», «up», «by»…) le da cada vez un sentido nuevo. «Without» = «uidh-ÁUT», con la «th» sonora que el español no tiene. El alemán, dice Harker, es lo único que lo sostiene en tierra extraña.
