ἐν τῷ ἑξακοσιοστῷ ἔτει ἐν τῇ ζωῇ τοῦ Νῶε τοῦ δευτέρου μηνός, ἑβδόμῃ καὶ εἰκάδι τοῦ μηνός, τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ ἐρράγησαν πᾶσαι αἱ πηγαὶ τῆς ἀβύσσου, καὶ οἱ καταράκται τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἠνεῴχθησαν·
The flood's cosmic mechanism, dated to the day: the twenty-seventh day of Noah's six-hundredth year. πηγαὶ τῆς ἀβύσσου, “fountains of the deep,” reaches back to ἄβυσσος at Gen 1:2, the primeval waters that creation had penned back — the flood is a partial un-creation, the firmament's waters breaking back in. καταράκται τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, “floodgates/cataracts of heaven,” pictures sluice-gates in the solid vault of 1:6-7 thrown open.
