Καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν Νῶε θυσιαστήριον τῷ θεῷ, καὶ ἔλαβεν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν τῶν καθαρῶν καὶ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν πετεινῶν τῶν καθαρῶν, καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν ὁλοκάρπωσιν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον.
The first altar built after the Flood, and the first sacrifice named in the whole Bible. ἀνήνεγκεν, “brought/offered up,” is the same verb the New Testament reuses of Christ's own sacrifice (Heb 7:27, 9:28, 1 Pet 2:24). ὁλοκάρπωσις, “a whole burnt offering,” is consumed entirely on the altar — nothing kept back.
