καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Νῶε ἐννακόσια πεντήκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
The chapter's closing formula — "and he died" — is the same refrain that tolls through the genealogy of Genesis 5, the mortality inherited from Adam even for the man who alone was found righteous in his generation (Gen 6:9). ἐννακόσια ("nine hundred") is a number too large to occur anywhere in the New Testament's own text.
