Quando voltamos, à noite, viemos por ali a pé, falando das minhas dúvidas. Capitu novamente me aconselhou que esperássemos. Sogras eram todas assim; lá vinha um dia e mudavam. Ao passo que me falava, recrudescia de ternura.
When we returned at night, we came by there on foot, speaking of my doubts. Capitu again advised me that we should wait. Mothers-in-law were all like that; there came a day and they changed. As she spoke to me, tenderness increased.
