Henrique's fury has hardened into revulsion — 'não lhe queria ver a cara', he could not stand the sight of him. The rash man who blurted the secret is now the righteous one; his shame at his indiscretion has curdled into hatred of the man who provoked it. He flees the house, as the two women have, each driven out by Leôncio in turn.
