In fact Miguel was the son of a noble and honorable family of Miguelists,
His origin is fixed to a real chapter of Portuguese history: the Miguelists, partisans of the absolutist Dom Miguel who lost the civil war of the 1830s and were driven into exile. Miguel is a political refugee of good blood — his fall is the wreck of a whole losing cause.
