The rebuke is vivid and folk-perfect. 'Forte linguinha de vibora' — what a viper's little tongue — answers venom with venom, and the diminutive 'linguinha' makes it almost fond even as it stings. Then the plain command: 'deixa a outra socegar,' let the other one be. The old woman defends peace itself.
