The second question exposes the trap of slavery itself: there is nowhere to seek 'protecção' because the danger is the 'senhor,' the master, the very person the law appoints as her protector. His will is 'tyranica' — tyrannical, answerable to no one — and the narrator brands him 'libertino e execravel,' libertine and execrable. In a just order the master shields the servant; here he is the threat, and the law is on his side.
