Rebuffed on principle, Leôncio changes tack to condescension: 'és muito creança,' you are very much a child, who cannot 'dar ás cousas o devido peso,' weigh things properly. Infantilizing her recasts her moral clarity as naiveté, so that her refusal need not be taken seriously. It is the oppressor's oldest move — to deny the victim the standing of an adult who knows her own mind.
