Chapter V. The sisterhood is sealed with a game; Cecília's high spirits return, and she calls the turtledove with a girl's mimicry of its song.
The sadness lifts as quickly as it came, and Alencar sends her out of the hammock in a single light bound — the whole languid stillness of the chapter's opening thrown off in an instant. Her recovery is as effortless as her charm.
