"What is it?" asked Cecília, running to her cousin.
Chapter V. As evening closes, a clatter of hooves announces the return of the riders — Álvaro among them — and Cecília, at his name, blushes.
Cecília runs toward the cry rather than the riders — her first thought is still Isabel. Alencar keeps her attention on her cousin one beat longer, before the name that will turn her own colour is spoken.
