Papyri Graecae Magicae IV.522 · The immortal Aion, lord of the fiery diademsIV.522The immortal Aion, lord of the fiery diadems
The object of the vision: with immortal spirit, to behold the immortal Aion (Time himself, deified) and lord of the fiery diadems — the initiate hallowed with holy hallowings — while his own human soul-power withdraws for a little.

with immortal spirit the immortal Aion and lord of the fiery diadems, hallowed with holy hallowings, holy, while my human soul-power withdraws for a little,
Interpretation
[to behold] with immortal spirit the immortal Aion and lord of the fiery diadems, hallowed with holy hallowings, holy, while my human soul-power withdraws for a little,
The vision's object is Aion — not 'an age' here but the god Aion, Time itself made a person, 'immortal' and crowned with 'fiery diadems' (the circling fires of the heavens read as a king's many crowns). The magical and gnostic worlds worshipped Aion as a supreme figure; to behold him is to see the whole of time at once, from inside. Two things happen to the initiate in the same breath. He is hallowed — the line piles the root up threefold, hagíois hagiastheìs hagiásmasi hágios, 'with holy hallowings hallowed, holy,' the sound itself consecrating by repetition. And his ordinary self steps aside: his human soul-power withdraws for a little (hypexestṓsēs, quietly retires). This is the rite's psychology stated plainly — the mortal faculty must vacate, briefly, so that something immortal can look through the space it leaves. The psychikḗ dýnamis, the natural soul, is exactly what later writers set below the spiritual; here it is politely asked to leave the room.

Papyri Graecae Magicae IV.528 · Which I shall take up again — by God's unalterable decreeIV.528Which I shall take up again — by God's unalterable decree
He promises that the withdrawn human soul-power will be his again after the present bitter necessity — undiminished — by God's unchangeable decree (sealed with a vowel-name); for a mortal cannot, on his own, rise together with the golden-gleaming radiance of the immortal brightness.

which I shall take up again after the present and pressing bitter necessity upon me, undiminished — I, so-and-so, child of so-and-so, by God's unalterable decree, [euē uia eēi aō eiau iua ieō]; since it is not possible for me, born mortal, to rise together with the gold-gleaming radiances of the immortal brightness, [ōēu aeō ēua eōē uae ōiae];
