Papyri Graecae Magicae IV.528 · Which I shall take up again — by God's unalterable decreeIV.528Which I shall take up again — by God's unalterable decree
He promises that the withdrawn human soul-power will be his again after the present bitter necessity — undiminished — by God's unchangeable decree (sealed with a vowel-name); for a mortal cannot, on his own, rise together with the golden-gleaming radiance of the immortal brightness.

Interpretation
which I shall take up again after the present and pressing bitter necessity upon me — undiminished — I, so-and-so, child of so-and-so, by God's unalterable decree, euē uia eēi aō eiau iua ieō; since it is not possible for me, born a mortal, to rise together with the gold-gleaming radiances of the immortal brightness, ōēu aeō ēua eōē uae ōiae;
The initiate strikes a bargain with his own soul. The power that is stepping aside he will take up again — metaparalḗmpsomai, future tense, a promissory note — undiminished (achreokópēton, a commercial word: not docked, not short-changed), once the “bitter necessity” of this hour has passed. Into that legal-sounding clause drops the blank again, ho deîna, hòn hē deîna, so-and-so son of so-and-so: the cosmic contract has a line for your name. Then the reason, and it is a humble one for a magician: it is not possible for me, born a mortal, to rise together with the golden flashings of the immortal brightness. He cannot ascend on his own terms; the human simply cannot keep company with that light. The vowel-strings on either side are the seal on the decree — the sound of the necessity being pronounced unalterable, the way a name of power ratifies what the words have said.

Papyri Graecae Magicae IV.534 · Stand, perishable nature — the secret nameIV.534Stand, perishable nature — the secret name
The prayer's close: the initiate commands his own perishable nature to stand aside and then take him back whole, and seals the whole immortalization with his secret name — 'I am the son…', a self-identification woven of names of power.
· · ·

Stand, perishable nature of mortals, and at once take me up whole after the inexorable and pressing need. For I am the son, [psychōn demou prochō prōa]; I am [macharphn my prōpsychōn prōe].
