καὶ ἔλαβεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον ὃν ἔπλασεν καὶ ἔθετο αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ, ἐργάζεσθαι αὐτὸν καὶ φυλάσσειν.
The man's commission, restated: ἐργάζεσθαι ("to work/till") and φυλάσσειν ("to guard/keep", the same verb used of keeping commandments) — labor and vigilance, not idleness, define paradise from the start.
