καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τὴν φωνήν σου ἤκουσα περιπατοῦντος ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ, καὶ ἐφοβήθην, ὅτι γυμνός εἰμι, καὶ ἐκρύβην.
Adam's answer names the new emotion directly — φόβος, fear — and its cause not in disobedience but in nakedness, still confusing symptom for disease. Shame precedes and masks the deeper reality of guilt throughout the chapter's interrogation.
