The serpent deceived me

καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῇ γυναικί Τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας; καὶ εἶπεν ἡ γυνή Ὁ ὄφις ἠπάτησέν με, καὶ ἔφαγον.
The woman's confession, unlike Adam's, at least names the true agent correctly — the serpent — but the pattern of deflection continues one link further down the chain. Only the serpent, questioned last, has no one left to blame, and receives no question at all — only sentence.
