Καὶ ἔζησεν Ἐνὼς ἑκατὸν ἐνενήκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Καινάν.
The third patriarch. Ἑνώς (Enos) is the ordinary Hebrew word for “man” in its more vulnerable, mortal sense (as opposed to אָדָם, adam, humankind in general) — fittingly, later Jewish tradition remembers Enos’s own generation as the point when “men began to call upon the name of the Lord” (Gen 4:26), the beginning of public worship.
