Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Νῶε Εἴσελθε σὺ καὶ πᾶς ὁ οἶκός σου εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν, ὅτι σὲ ἴδον δίκαιον ἐναντίον μου ἐν τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ.
The Lord speaks to Noah directly for the first time by name, using the covenant name Κύριος (rendering the Hebrew divine name YHWH, as the LXX regularly does) rather than the generic ὁ θεός used through most of the flood narrative. κιβωτός, “ark,” is a plain Greek word for a chest or box — the very same word the Septuagint later uses for the ark of the covenant (ἡ κιβωτὸς τῆς διαθήκης). σὲ ἴδον δίκαιον, “I have seen you righteous,” gives the reason: not sinlessness but a verdict of righteousness “in this generation,” ἐν τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ — righteous by comparison with a corrupt age (cf. 6:9).
