Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἑνὶ καὶ ἑξακοσιοστῷ ἔτει ἐν τῇ ζωῇ τοῦ Νῶε, τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ πρώτου, μιᾷ τοῦ μηνός, ἐξέλειπεν τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς· καὶ ἀπεκάλυψεν Νῶε τὴν στέγην τῆς κιβωτοῦ, καὶ ἴδεν ὅτι ἐξέλειπεν τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς.
Noah was exactly six hundred years old when the flood began (Gen 7:6); this is its close, dated in his own life rather than by any outside calendar. μιᾷ τοῦ μηνός, literally “one of the month,” is another Hebraism, the cardinal “one” used for the ordinal “first.”
