καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς τῷ Νῶε Τοῦτο τὸ σημεῖον τῆς διαθήκης ἧς διεθέμην ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον πάσης σαρκὸς ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
διεθέμην ("I established/set out") is the verb διατίθημι from which διαθήκη itself is formed — the covenant word and its own verb appearing side by side, so the Greek makes the etymology audible. διατίθημι is the same verb behind Luke 22:29 ("I assign/covenant a kingdom to you") and Heb 8:10, 9:16-17, of covenant-making.
