God enlarge Japheth

πλατύναι ("may he enlarge") plays on the sound of Ἰάφεθ's own name — the Hebrew text puns on Japheth (יֶפֶת) and the verb "to enlarge" (יַפְתְּ, yapt); the Greek carries the sense of the pun even where the sound-play itself does not fully survive translation. γενηθήτω ("let it become") is the same verb-form as Genesis 1:3's "Let there be light."
