«Ocorreu-me que…» é o gesto mental de um homem prático: ele se antecipa, calcula, prepara-se. A palavra «foreknowledge» — conhecimento prévio, saber de antemão — resume a fé de Harker no planejamento. Stoker a coloca com cuidado, pois é justamente esse tipo de saber que fracassará diante do sobrenatural.
