Rosa presses her theory that Isaura was expelled. The idiom 'o ai-Jesus della' — literally her 'oh!-Jesus,' the person one sighs over — means her darling, her pet, the apple of her eye; Rosa spits it sarcastically. If Isaura was so beloved, why was she left behind? The needle is real, because the answer hurts.
