And saying this, the rascal of a page, drawing close to Isaura,
The narrator's affectionate contempt names him again: 'o maroto do pajem,' the rascal of a page. The comedy holds right up to the physical trespass — and then the sentence moves, with a small menace, from words to the body: he closes the distance he has no right to close.
