Joaquina lands the sharpest reply of the scene: Rosa condemns Isaura for a restraint Rosa herself couldn't manage. It exposes the envy exactly — Rosa resents not that Isaura is worse than her, but that she is better under a pressure that would break Rosa. The old woman closes the argument by naming who would truly abuse the place, if she had it.
