All Isaura wants is the chance 'manifestar sua innocencia,' to make her innocence plain. It is the request of the wrongly accused everywhere — simply to be heard. The tragedy is that the very jealousy poisoning Malvina makes her deaf; the more Isaura protests, to a mind already turned, the more she seems to confirm the charge. Her innocence has no door left to enter by.
