swearing at the height of her indignation never again to set foot in that house, where she was so vilely outraged,
Her vow is absolute — 'nunca mais pôr os pés naquella casa,' never again to set foot there. 'Vilmente ultrajada,' vilely outraged, names the wrong: not a lovers' spat but an outrage to her dignity as wife, made to watch her husband court a slave under her own roof. The oath is sworn 'no auge da indignação,' at anger's peak, and the narrator has already warned how such peaks subside.
