Isaura grounds her 'never' in loyalty, not merely in aversion: to yield would be 'uma traição infame para com minha senhora,' an infamous betrayal of Malvina. She reframes the whole transaction — what Leôncio calls love she calls treason, and its victim is not herself but the wronged wife. The moral clarity is total: even coerced, submission would make her complicit in a wrong against another woman, and that she will not be.
