So it was, after that scrupulous inspection and still blushing at herself, that she began her bathing-dress. But when the bodice of the petticoat, falling, uncovered her white shoulders and her pure, soft breast, the girl almost died of modesty and fright. A little bird, hidden among the leaves, a mischievous, malicious chatterer, had cried out distinctly: —I saw you well!
