Now it is easy to know the reason why Peri pursued the índia, remnant of the unhappy family: he knew that she was going straight to her brothers, and that at the first word she uttered, the whole tribe would rise as one man to avenge the death of its cacique and the loss of the loveliest daughter of the Aimorés.
