Making these reflections, Peri had spent nearly an hour scouring the forest in vain; the índia had gained a great lead during the time he struggled against the faintness produced by the wound. At last he judged the most prudent course was to warn D. Antônio at once, so that he might take all the precautionary measures the imminence of the danger required.
