Interpretation
Peace to your majesty! Send me away, that I may go to my country, to my lady, for I have stayed long, while I looked on your glory and your wisdom and the abundant food that you gave me. And now I will go to my lady; for if I wished, I would stay with you as one of your servants, one of the lowly.

He opens with a greeting, ሰላም ለዕበይከ, “peace to your majesty”. Dillmann gives the greeting itself, ሰላም ለከ, “peace to you, hail!”, and for ዕበይ he lists “majesty” said of God, of Diana in Acts 19:27 and of a king in Daniel 5:18. The request that follows, ፈንወኒ, “send me”, is the first example Dillmann gives for the verb ፈነወ, from Isaiah 6:8.

He has stayed long, ጐንደይኩ, a form Dillmann illustrates with Job 17:13, looking on Solomon’s glory and wisdom and eating his food. Then comes a compliment: if he were free to choose, he would stay as one of the lowliest of Solomon’s servants. He calls the queen እግዝእትየ, “my lady”, twice in these lines.

The Kebra Nagast 23.3 · Blessed are those who hear you📜 Bezold's printed edition
Tamrin goes on. He praises those who serve the king, and then gives his reason for leaving.
· · ·

Blessed are those who hear your voice and do your commands; for if I wished, I would stay here and not be parted from you; but yet send me to my lady because of the trust that is on me, so that I may give her her goods; and I myself am her servant.
