Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Νῶε Καιρὸς παντὸς ἀνθρώπου ἥκει ἐναντίον μου, ὅτι ἐπλήσθη ἡ γῆ ἀδικίας ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν· καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ καταφθείρω αὐτοὺς καὶ τὴν γῆν.
Sentence formally pronounced to Noah. ἥκει, “has come/is come”, gives it urgency: the appointed time itself has now arrived, not merely been decided somewhere off-stage. καταφθείρω recurs a third time in three verses (11, 12, 13), a drumbeat of the same verb for the same coming devastation.
