καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία κατὰ γένος καὶ πάντα τὰ κτήνη κατὰ γένος καὶ πᾶν ἑρπετὸν κινούμενον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κατὰ γένος καὶ πᾶν πετεινὸν κατὰ γένος
κατὰ γένος, “according to its kind,” repeats four times in one sentence — the same refrain that structured the creation of plant and animal life in chapter 1, now applied to the ark's cargo. This verse also runs on without a full stop into verse 15.
