The ark was borne along, above the water

καὶ ἐπεκράτει τὸ ὕδωρ καὶ ἐπληθύνετο σφόδρα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· καὶ ἐπεφέρετο ἡ κιβωτὸς ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος.
ἐπεφέρετο ... ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος, “was borne along ... above the water,” repeats — verb and phrase both — Gen 1:2's πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐπεφέρετο ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος, “the Spirit of God was moving over the water.” Where the Spirit once hovered over the waters of creation, now the ark itself is carried over the waters of un-creation — the same Greek phrase, doing new work.
