καὶ πᾶν ἑρπετὸν ὅ ἐστιν ζῶν ὑμῖν ἔσται εἰς βρῶσιν· ὡς λάχανα χόρτου ἔδωκα ὑμῖν τὰ πάντα.
The permission widens: at creation only "every green plant" was given as food (Gen 1:29-30); now every living, moving creature is added — the first divine sanction for eating meat. The chapter immediately qualifies the gift in the next verse.
