καὶ γὰρ τὸ ὑμέτερον αἷμα τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν ἐκζητήσω· ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων τῶν θηρίων ἐκζητήσω αὐτό, καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς ἀνθρώπου ἀδελφοῦ ἐκζητήσω τὴν ψυχὴν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.
God will hold both beast and human accountable for shed human blood — the theological ground of the murder-prohibition given explicitly in the next verse. ἐκζητήσω ("I will require, demand back") is repeated three times, hammering the point; the same verb names Christ's demand for accountability at Luke 11:50-51.
