The stalemate is stated flatly: 'as mesmas evasivas e moratorias,' the same evasions and delays. The legalistic 'moratória' — a granted extension of time — captures Leôncio's whole method: never a refusal outright, always a postponement, until the postponement becomes the refusal. Repetition is itself the tactic.
