Não há forças que resistam a semelhante martírio!
'Do as you please! You are a man, and afraid of nothing! But I,' she went on, bristling, 'shall never be able to sleep again, only at the idea that a pit-viper is climbing into my bed; by day at every moment I shall think some wildcat is going to spring at me through the window; that my clothes are full of fire-caterpillars! There is no strength that can withstand such a martyrdom!'
