This first point settled, he passed to the plan's execution; for him it came down to a punishment; those three men meant to kill, therefore they had to die, but they had to die at the same time, by the same blow. Peri feared that, allied as they were, if one escaped and saw his companions fall, he would give way to despair and hasten the crime before he could prevent it.
